Rosalind Franklin Worked under Maurice Wilkens in the same lab as Watson and Crick, revealed the shape of DNA by X-ray diffraction with photo 51, died of ovarian cancer in 1958, name was not included in the Nobel Prize winning paper by Watson and Crick
DNA structure Basic unit- nucleotide, bases- Adenine, Thymine, Cytosine, Guanine. Sugar- Deoxyribose. phosphate
Shape of DNA Double helix, Bases are attached to each other by weak hydrogen bonds, and to the sugar by covalent bonds.
results of DNA replication produces two molecules of DNA that are identical to eachother and contain one strand from the original molecule and one strand that is new (semiconservative replication)
