Transverse Broken straight across
Oblique Broken at an angle
Spiral Occurs when excessive twisting forces are applied to a bone
Comminuted Bone breaks into many fragments
Avulsion A forcible pulling away of a part or structure
Impacted Broken bone ends are forced into each other
Fissure A crack in a bone
Greenstick Bone breaks incompletely
Dislocation Bone is not broken but out of place
