Pandemic/Outbreak
| Term | Definition |

| Pandemic | an epidemic that’s spread over multiple countries or continents |
| Epidemic | a disease that affects a large number of people within a community, population, or region |
| Outbreak | a greater-than-anticipated increase in the number of endemic cases. It can also be a single case in a new area. If it’s not quickly controlled, an outbreak can become an epidemic. |
| Bacteria | a unicellular microorganism lacking a true nucleus (prokaryote) and some can cause disease |
| Antibiotics | a medicine that inhibits the growth of or destroys microorganisms like bacteria |
| Antibiotic resistance | happens when germs like bacteria no long respond to drugs designed to kill them |
| E. coli (Escheria coli) | type of bacteria that normally lives in your intestines transmitted by feces of animals |
| MRSA | a type of staph infection that is difficult to treat because of resistance to some antibiotics |
| Infectious disease | disorders caused by a bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Can be passed from person to person. |
