But now, according to the poet, there is a change coming Ach anois, dar leis an bhfile, tá athrú ag teacht
The Spailpín will go fighting with the croppies Rachaidh an file ag troid leis na croppies
He will be fighting with the pike and the pole Beidh sé ag troid leis an gcleith agus leis an bpíc
The Spailpín used to work in Clonmel, Tipperary, Carraig on Suir and Callan Bhíodh an file ag obair i gCluain Meala, i dTiobraid Árann, i gCarraig na Súire, agus i gCallann
He used to cut hay in Carriag on Suir Bhíodh sé ag baint an fhéir i gCarraig na Súire
