The Flow of Blood through the Heart

QuestionAnswer
Deoxygenated blood enters the right atrium through the superior and inferior vena cava.
Blood enters the right ventricle through the tricuspid valve.
Blood exits the right ventricle through the pulmonary valve and enters the pulmonary artery.
The left and right pulmonary arteries send blood to the lungs, where gas exchange occurs.
Oxygenated blood returns to the heart via the pulmonary veins and enters the left atrium.
Blood enters the left ventricle through the bicuspid valve (also known as mitral valve).
Blood exits the left ventricle through the aortic semilunar valve to enter the aorta.
The aorta distributes blood to the body.
The largest vein in the body is the vena cava.
