Mitosis
| Term | Definition |

| Interphase | the phase of the cell cycle where the cell grows and copies its chromosomes |
| Mitosis | division of body cells |
| daughter cell | the cell that is produced in cell division |
| Cell cycle | composed of three parts, interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis; life cycle of a cell |
| chromosome | structure that contains DNA. |
| Prophase | nucleus disappears and chromatin becomes chromosomes |
| Metaphase | chromosomes line up in the middle |
| Anaphase | chromosomes are pulled apart at the centromere and pulled apart. |
| Telophase | nucleus reappears and two new cells are formed |
| Cytokinesis | cytoplasm is divided between cells |
| diploid | having 2 sets of each chromosome |
| somatic | any cell in the body except for sex cells |
