Auditory System

The process of the auditory system

QuestionAnswer
Step 1 Outer ear collects sound waves
Step 2 The vibrations move through the ear canal to the eardrum
Step 3 Causes movement of the Malleus, then the Incus, and finally the stapes
Step 4 When the stapes pushes on the oval window, it causes movement of fluid within the cochlea
Step 5 These stimulate the auditory nerves which carry signals to the brain and the brain recognises these signals as sound
