He is not like a daisy, but daisies will grow from his ears when he is dead Níl sé cosúil le nóinín, ach fásfaidh nóiníní as a chluasa nuair a bheidh sé marbh
His eyes are not like a musical stream Níl a shúile cosúil le sruthán ceolmhar
His eyes are too close together Tá a shúile róghar ('róchóngarach') dá chéile
His hair is like barbed wire, just like the dark woman of Shakespeare's sonnets Tá a chuid gruaige cosúil le wire deilgní, mar bhean dhubh Shakespeare!
The man is not perfect, but the poet does not care Níl an fear foirfe, ach is cuma leis an bhfile
He is kind and he gives her little gifts Tá sé cineálta agus tugann sé bronntanais bheaga di
