Circulatory System

QuestionAnswer
Open Circulatory System The heart pumps blood into vessels that are open ended.
Closed Circulatory System The blood remains in a continuous system of blood vessels.
Bicuspid Valves Separates the left atrium and the left ventricle and made of two flaps.
Tricuspid Valves Separates the right atrium from the right ventricle and made of three flaps.
Pulse The alternate expansion and contraction of arteries.
Blood Pressure The force exerted by blood against the wall of the blood vessels.
Capillaries Smallest blood vessel.
What is the heart wall made of? Involuntary muscle.
Systolic Pressure Contraction of the heart muscle
Diastolic Pressure When the ventricles are relaxed
Atrium Carries deoxygenated blood from the body cells to the heart.
