TermDefinition
-altruism- the belief in or practice of selfless concern for the well-being of others.
-citizenship- the state of being vested with rights, privileges, and duties.
-empathy- the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
-foresight- the ability to predict what will happen or what will be needed in the future.
-gratitude- the quality of being thankful ; ready to show appreciation.
-healthcare- the maintenance and improvement of physical and mental health through medical service.
-helping profession- career that nurtures the growth of problems a person has. (nurses, therapists, doctors, social workers, teachers, preachers)
-humanitarian- concerned with or seeking to promote human welfare.
-longevity- long existence or service.
-needs assessment- a process for determining and addressing needs or "gaps" for people in need.
-oath- a solemn promise regarding one's future action or behavior.
-patient-centered care- care that is respectful and responsive to individual patient needs.
-public health- the health of the population as a whole, monitored and regulated by the state.
-selfless- concerned more with the needs and wishes of others than with yourself.
-servant leadership- a philosophy of leading others by putting the members' needs over your own.
-simulated work environment- a learning environment in which a trainee is able to practice using and operating relevant industrial equipment.
-stewardship- the job of supervising or taking care of something, like an organization or a property.
-sustainability- the ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level.
