| How much of the world's primary production takes place in the ocean? | Half. Meaning that half of all the oxygen we breath comes from the ocean. |
| What is the ration of the volume of available in the living space in the ocean vs that on land? | There is 880 times more living space in the ocean vs. on land. |
| How much of our diet is composed of sea food? | 2 percent. |
| Where can plants grow in the ocean? | Light penetration limits photosynthesis to shallow waters but nutrients are less plentiful at the surface. The deeper you go the higher the pressure and that can be problematic. |
| Why is the ocean a better environment versus land in terms of organism growth? | In the ocean plants don't have to invest their energy in cellulose to maintain their structure cause water is denser than air. Also there is an unlimited supply of water in the ocean and conditions are more stable. |
