The skin is composed of two layers of tissue epidermis and dermis
Second layer of skin, the dermis, contains two kinds of glands sebaceous glands (oil glands) and sudoriferous glands (sweat glands)
The dermis is attached to the underlying structures of the skin subcutaneous tissue
three kinds of epithelial membranes cutaneous, serous, and mucous membrane
main functions of skin protection, regulation of body temperature, and sensation
skin protects us from mechanical impact (pressure and stroke), thermic impact (heat or cold), and environmental impact (chemicals, the sun’s UV, and bacteria)
two sudoriferous glands (sweat glands) eccrine glands (or merocrine glands) and apocrine glands
