| Explicit | Stated clearly and in detail, leaving no room for doubt or confusion. |
| Text Structure | This refers to how the information in a passage or story is organized (ex: cause and effect, chronological, main idea/details, etc.) |
| Successor | Someone who takes the place of someone else in a certain position. |
| Plummeting | Falling quickly and far. |
| Irony | When the reader knows something the characters don’t know. |
| Flashback | A scene or series of scenes showing events that happened in the past. |
| Personification | Giving human characteristics to something nonhuman. |
| Immense | Extremely large |
| Ponderously | To walk slowly and clumsily because of great weight. |
