Evolution

L1 Activity Vocabulary Review

TermDefinition
Fossil Remains of an organism that have changed to rock in the shape of the original bone.
Adaptation A trait that helps an organism survive and reproduce.
Survival Ability to live.
Variation A change in a trait from the rest of the species.
Evolution A scientific theory explaining the process by which organisms change over time.
Species A group of organisms that can breed and produce offspring that can breed.
Ancestor The organism a species evolved from or came from
Environmental Factor Something in the environment that affects the survival of a species or the way a species lives.
Extinction The disappearance of an entire species of organisms.
Charles Darwin A British scientist who developed the theory of evolution in the 19th century.
