Cancer A genetic disease that allows damaged cells to grow uncontrollably
Coronary Heart Disease Coronary Heart Disease A hereditary or lifestyle practice that causes the narrowing of the coronary arteries, usually from a build up of plaque
Plaque A substance consisting of cholesteral, fatty substances, waste products and fibrin
Symptoms of Coronary Heart Disease Faster, irregular heart beats, chest pain, shortness of breath and sometimes heart attack.
These dietarty/lifestyle habits can contribute to CHD Smoking, over consumption of fatty and processed foods, a sedentary lifestyle, excess alcohol consumption, stress, irregular medication use
Tumors Lumps of tissue formed from irregular cell growth. Can either be cancerous or non-cancerous
Chemicals that can promote cancer growth Chemicals that can promote cancer growth
Genetic composition of some cancer cells Some have double the normal number of chromosomes, while others have duplications or deletions of chromosomes
Viruses that can lead to cancer development Epstein-Barr virus, human papilloma virus, hepatitis B virus, and human herpes virus-8
How can cancer become heridtary? Some abnormal genes can be passed on during reproduction (inherited cancer)
