excretion life process that releases waste.
growth life process that increases the size and number of cells in organisms.
homeostasis a state an organism is in to maintain a stable internal environment even when the external environment changes.
metabolism all the chemical reactions that occur within the cells of organisms.
nutrition life process that allows an organism to make or obtain nutrients from its environment and process them for survival.
regulation life process that controls and coordinates activities within the organism in order to maintain homeostasis.
respiration life process by which the chemical bond energy stored in nutrients is released for use in cells.
reproduction the life process by which organisms produce new organisms of the same type.
species the most specific way to identify organisms; most organisms can only reproduce within their own species.
synthesis life process that involves combining simple substances into more complex substances.
transport life process that allows molecules or materials to travel within a cell or throughout an organism.
