| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Photosynthesis | Plants use the energy from sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water to make sugars (glucose) for food. |
| Cellular Respiration | The process of breaking down food to produce ATP |
| Xylem | Transports water from roots to cells in plants. |
| Phloem | Transports nutrients made in the leaf cells to all parts of the plant. |
| Chloroplast | Organelle found in plant cells that is involved in photosynthesis. |
| Chlorophyll | A green pigment found in chloroplast that captures energy from sunlight |
| Mitochondria | Organelle in eukaryotic cells that converts food to energy or ATP. |
| ATP | Adenosine triphosphate is energy stored in a molecule resulting from cellular respiration. |
