Homeostasis a cell maintaining a condition of equilibrium or balance
Diffusion solute molecules moving from an area of high solute concentration to low solute concentration
Facilitated Diffusion molecules diffuse across the plasma membrane with assistance from membrane proteins
Osmosis the movement of water to an area with less water OR more solute
Aquaporin a channel in the cell membrane that transfers water
Isotonic water and solute concentrations are equal in and out of the cell
Hypertonic solute concentration is higher outside the cell
Hypotonic solute concentration is lower outside the cell
Osmotic Pressure the pressure caused by water movement across the membrane
