QuestionAnswer
Classification the grouping of objects or information based on similarities.
Taxonomy the branch of biology that groups and names organisms based on studies of their different characteristics.
Taxonomists Biologists who study taxonomy
Binomial nomenclature A two-word naming system used in modern classification systems.
Genus A group of similar species.
Species The second word of a scientific name which sometimes describes a characteristic of the organism.
Taxon A group of organisms
Species the most specific classification taxon.
Family A taxon of similar genera.
Order A taxon of similar families
Class A taxon of similar orders.
Phylum A taxon of similar classes.
Division Used by Plant taxonomists in place of Phylum
Kingdom A taxon of similar phyla or divisions.
Domain A taxon of Kingdoms
