Biology Topic 1 Cells

QuestionAnswer
What is the function of a Nucleus in a animal cell? Contains Genetic Material that controls the activities of the cell (aka the brain of the cell)
What is the function of a Cell Membrane in a animal cell? Holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out.
What is the function of Mitochondria in a animal cell? These are where most of the Aerobic Respiration take place. Respiration transfers Energy that the cell needs to work (aka the powerhouse of the cell)
What is the function of Ribosomes in a animal cell? Creates Proteins for the cell.
What is the function of a Nucleus in a plant cell? Contains Genetic Material that controls the activities of the cell (aka the brain of the cell)
What is the function of a Cell Membrane in a plant cell? Holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out.
What is the function of a Cell Wall in a plant cell? Supports the cell and strengthens it (made out of cellulose)
What is the function of Chloroplast in a plant cell? Where Photosynthesis occurs which makes food for the plant. Contain a green substance called chlorophyll which absorbs the light needed for Photosynthesis.
What is the function of a Mitochondria in a plant cell? These are where most of the Aerobic Respiration take place. Respiration transfers Energy that the cell needs to work (aka the powerhouse of the cell)
What is the function of Vacuole in a plant cell? Contains cell sap, a weak solution of sugar and salts.
What is the function of Ribosomes in a plant cell? Creates Proteins for the cell.
What is the function of Chromosomal DNA in a bacteria? A strand of DNA that functions as a self-replicating genetic element (replicon)
What is the function of Plasmid DNA in a bacteria? Provides bacteria with genetic advantages such as antibiotic resistance.
What is the function of a Cell Membrane in a bacteria? Holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out.
What is the function of Ribosomes in a bacteria? Creates Proteins for the bacteria.
What is the function of Flagella in a bacteria? Enables movement in a bacteria
