Cell Organelle
Cell Organelle/parts & Functions
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Nucleus | Contains the genetic material in Eukaryotic cells |
| Endoplasmic reticulum | Processes and transports proteins and make lipids |
| Golgi complex | Packages and distributes materials within or out of the cell |
| Ribosome | Makes proteins |
| Chloroplast | Uses sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water to make food by photosynthesis |
| Mitochondrian | Breaks down food molecules to release energy by cellular respiration |
| Large central vacuole | Stores water and helps give shape to the cell |
| Lysosome | Produces enzymes that digest wastes, cell parts, and foreign invaders |
| Cell Membrane | Double layer of phospholipids that acts as a barrier between the dell and it's environment. Controls what enters and exits the cell |
| Cytoskeleton | In eukaryotic cells, it provides a network of protien filaments that gives shape and support to cells |
| Cell wall | Rigid structure that surrounds the cell membrane in plant and prokaryotic cells. It provides support and protection. |
