Estrogen Ovaries stimulates the development of secondary sexual characteristics and the production of LH; supports the uterine lining (like progesterone)
Progesterone Ovaries prepares the uterus for pregnancy and the breasts for lactation; supports the uterine lining (like estrogen)
LH (lutenizing hormone) in females Pituitary Just before day 14 of menstrual cycle, a sudden increase of LH from the pituitary gland causes follicle to burst(ovulation) and releases egg; stimulates the maturing follicle to release estrogen into bloodstream (like FSH)
LH (lutenizing hormone) & FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) in males Pituitary +secrete and produce sperm +stimulates maturing follicle to release estrogen into bloodstream
FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) in females Pituitary +causes an egg to start maturing inside a fluid-filled sac (aka follicle) in the ovary and the follicle to grow +stimulates the maturing follicle to release estrogen into the bloodstream (like LH)
Testosterone Testes major male hormone
HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) Placenta causes the corpus luteum to continue releasing high levels of progesterone and estrogen (present in female's urine in pregnancy tests)
