| Term | Definition |

| Drizzle | if it is drizzling, light rain and mist come out of the sky |
| Tundra | the large flat areas of land in the north of Russia, Canada etc, where it is very cold and there are no trees |
| Precipitation | rain, snow etc that falls on the ground, or the amount of rain, snow etc that falls |
| Reservoir | a lake, especially an artificial one, where water is stored before it is supplied to people’s houses |
| Purification | to remove dirty or harmful substances |
| Sandbank | a raised area of sand in a river, ocean etc |
| Immersion | the action of immersing something in liquid, or the state of being immersed |
| Vapour | a mass of very small drops of a liquid which float in the air, for example because the liquid has been heated |
| Silt | a mass of very small drops of a liquid which float in the air, for example because the liquid has been heated |
| Seabed | the land at the bottom of the sea |
| Lagoon | a lake of sea water that is partly separated from the sea by rocks, sand |
| Dam | a special wall built across a river or stream to stop the water from flowing, especially in order to make a lake or produce electricity |
| Drought | a long period of dry weather when there is not enough water for plants and animals to live |
| Flood | to cover a place with water, or to become covered with water |
| Reef | a line of sharp rocks, often made of CORAL, or a raised area of sand near the surface of the sea |
| Liquid | a substance that is not a solid or a gas, for example water or milk |
| Pond | a small area of fresh water that is smaller than a lake, that is either natural or artificially made |
| Geothermal | Relating to the internal heat of the earth |
| Puddle | a small pool of liquid, especially rainwater |
| Canal | a long passage dug into the ground and filled with water, either for boats to travel along, or to take water to a place |
| Lake | a large area of water surrounded by land |
| Stream | a natural flow of water that moves across the land and is narrower than a river |
| Well | a deep hole in the ground from which people take water |
| Global warming | a general increase in world temperatures caused by increased amounts of CARBON DIOXIDE around the Earth |
| Temperature | a measure of how hot or cold a place or thing is |
| Humidity | the amount of water contained in the air |
| Evaporation | if a liquid evaporates, or if heat evaporates it, it changes into a gas |
| Terrain | a particular type of land |
| Latitude | the distance north or south of the EQUATOR |
