Human Body Systems

Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous, Circulartory, Respiratory Systems

Skeletal System Supports and protects the organs in our body
Ligaments Tissue that connects bones to bones
Tendons Tissue that connects bones to muscles
Joints Where 2 or more bones join together
Muscular System Allows the body to move
Involuntary Muscles Muscles that operate on their own - we do not control their movements
Voluntary Muscles Muscles that we do control by sending messages from our brain to our muscles to move
Nervous System The control center of our body - sends messages to all parts of our body in order for us to react to the environment around us
Respiratory System Allows us to breathe - takes in oxygen and gets rid of carbon dioxide
Circulatory System Circulates blood throughout our body to bring nutrients and oxygen to our cells.
Arteries carry blood AWAY from the heart
Veins carry blood TO the heart
Parts of the skeletal system Bones, Ligaments, Cartiledge, Joints
Parts of the muscular system Muscles, Tendons
Parts of the nervous system Brain, Spinal Cord, Nerves
Parts of the circulatory system Heart, Blood, Blood vessels
