| Bronchodilator | agent causing the bronchi to widen |
| crackles | discontinuous sounds heard primaryly with the stethoscope during inspiration that resemble the sound of the rustling of cellophane |
| Hyperventilation | ventilation of the lungs beyond normal body needs |
| hypoventilation | ventilation of the lungs that does not fulfill the bodies gas exchange need |
| mucopurulent | containing both mucus and pus |
| mucus | slimy fluid secreted from the mucous membrane |

| stridor | harsh, high pitched sound heard on inspiration |
