| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Organelles (Michael) | Is like a smaller version of an organ for a cell. They all have specific jobs they have to do keep the cell going. |
| Cytosol (Michael) | The liquid found inside of cells |
| Cytoplasm (Michael) | Is when cytosol and organelles are put together. |
| Cell Membrane (Michael) | Is the outer layer of the cell made up of protein. |
| Nucleus (Michael) | An organelle that contains genetic material and is like the brain of the cell. |
| Nuclear Membrane (Michael) | A double layer that encloses the cells nucleus |
| Chromatin (DNA) (Michael) | A substance within a chromosome containing protein and DNA |
| Mitochondria (Michael) | The powerhouse of the cell which creates the energy the cell needs. |
| Endoplasmic Reticulum (Michael) | This organelle helps move protein around the cell. |
| Ribosomes (Michael) | This organelle makes the protein that the cell needs to survive. |
| Vesicles (Michael) | A sac filled with liquid or cytoplasm that is found within a cell. |
| Golgi Apparatus (Michael) | This organelle packages protein into vesicles before they are sent to the membrane |
| Lysosomes (Michael) | This organelle breaks down excess or worn out cell parts and also destroys invading viruses and bacteria |
| ATP (Michael) | A molecule that carries energy within cells |
| Cell Wall (Michael) | A structural layer found outside the membrane on only plant cells. |
| Chloroplast (Michael) | The organelle that carries out photosynthesis |
| Chlorophyll (Michael) | This helps plants absorb energy from the sun and gives them their green color. |
| Large Vacuoles (Michael) | This stores water inside of plant cells to help them stay hydrated. |
