Cell membrane surrounds the cell and allows nutrients to enter and waste to leave it.
Nucleus controls what happens in the cell. It contains DNA, the genetic information that cells need to grow and reproduce.
Cytoplasm jelly-like substance in which chemical reactions happen.
Mitochondria the powerhouse of the cell. They are structures where respiration takes place.
Plant cells have membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm and Mitochondria but also Cell wall - outer structure that surrounds cell and gives support. Vacuole - space within cytoplasm, contains sap. Chloroplasts - contain chlorophyll, site of photosynthesis.
Smallest cells in human body Red Blood Cells
Largest cell in human body Ovum (egg cell)
What parts do all cells have membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm and Mitochondria
What do red blood cells do? carry oxygen around the body (they don't have a nucleus)
What do nerve cells do? transmit electrical signals
What do muscle cells do? bring parts of the body closer together
Cell wall A hard layer outside the cell membrane, containing cellulose to provide strength to the plant.
