Interactions in Communities ch5 sect1

QuestionAnswer
PREDATION an interaction between two organisms in which one organism, the predator, kills and feeds on the other organism, the prey
COEVOLUTION the evolution of two or more species that is due to mutual influence
PARASITISM a relationship between two species in which one species, the parasite, benefits from the other species, the host which is harmed
SYMBIOSIS a relationship in which two different organisms live in close association with each other
MUTUALISM a relationship between two species in which both species benefit
COMMENSALISM a relationship between two organisms in which one organism benefits and the other is unaffected
PREY the organism that is attacked
PREDATORS the organism that is hunting
PARASITES an organism that lives on or inside another organism to the detriment of the host organism
HOST in parasitism, one organism feeds on another organism
TAPEWORM EXAMPLE live in the digestive system of their hosts
FLEAS EXAMPLE fleas that live on the skin(the host)
HERBIVORES animals that eat plants
