BodySystems Function
Function of Body Systems
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Skeletal System Function | Provides structure and support, allows for movement, protects vital organs, creates blood cells |
| Muscular System Function | Provides movement and allows for reaction to environmental conditions |
| Circulatory System Function (aka Cardivascular) | Transports needed materials (oxygen, glucose, waste products, disease fighting cells) to and from body cells |
| Respiratory System Function | Moves oxygen into the body into the body and removes carbon dioxide and excess water from the body |
| Digestive System Function | Breaks down food into usable molecules, provides a location for glucose molecule absorption, and rids the body of solid waste ; provides nutrients to the cells |
| Excretory System Function | Collects and rids the body of cellular waste in liquid form |
| Nervous System Function | Receive environmental information and directs a response if necessary; helps maintain homeostasis by detecting stimuli using nerve cells called neurons; control center for the body |
| Immune System Function (aka Lymphatic) | Eliminate pathogens that attack body cells; protect the body from harmful materials |
| Endocrine System Function | Regulate homeostasis through release of hormones from glands |
| Integumentary System Function | Protection for the body, temperature regulation, and prevents the body from drying out |
| Reproductive System Function | Specialized organs for continuation pf a species |
