What are the 2 divisions of the nervous system? Central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS)
This nervous system is located in the dorsal cavity and includes the brain (cranial cavity) and the spinal cord (spinal cavity). Central nervous system (CNS)
This nervous system is located outside the CNS. Peripheral nervous system (PNS)
This nervous system consists of the nerves that connect the CNS with the rest of the body. Peripheral nervous system (PNS)
The nervous system performs 3 general functions. What are they? sensory function, integrative function, motor function
Sensory nerves gather information from BLANK the body and from the BLANK environment. The nerves then carry the information to the CNS. inside, outside e.g. info about a cat is picked up by special cells in a person's eye and transmitted to the brain.
Sensory information brought to the CNS is BLANK? Interpreted e.g. brain not only sees the cat but also does more - recalls how a cat behaves, if it is hungry, distressed, etc.
Motor nerves convey information from the CNS toward the WHAT and WHAT of the body? muscles, glands
Motor neurons carry out the plans made by the WHAT? Central nervous system e.g. boy decides to feed cat - info travels along motor nerves from CNS to all skeletal muscles needed to feed the cat. The motor nerve converts the plan into action.
