Pathogen These are disease causing microbes. Most are microscopic.
Bacteria Single celled organisms so small they can only be seen with a microscope.
Viruses These are found anywhere there are cells to infect. You have trillions of these cells!
Example of a Virus Common cold & HIV
Protists Single-celled organisms that share some characteristics with both humans and animals.
Examples of protists Amoeba & Paramecium
Fungi Includes molds, yeast and mushrooms
Communicable Disease Shareable, caused by pathogens.
Non- communicable Diseases Not Shareable, caused by other factors
Examples of communicable diseases Common Cold, AIDS, Flu, Covid
Examples of non-communicable diseases Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease
Ways to spread communicable disease Direct Contact, Airborne, Waterborne, Food
Ways to contract non-communicable disease Environment, Diet, Lifestyle, Genetic
