What junction is made up of plaque and keratin? Desmosomes
What cells are tight junctions located in? Epithelial cells
What are gap junctions used for? Communication between cells
What is selective permeability? When biological membranes allow some substances, but not others, to pass through them
What does active transport require? The input of chemical energy from an outside source
Where do particles move during diffusion? To regions with a lower concentration of that particle
What do antiports do? Move two substances in two different directions.
What do uniports do? Move a single substance in one direction
What organelles are part of phagocytosis? The plasma membrane and lysosomes
What does pinocytosis bring in? Fluids and small particles
How does receptor-mediated endocytosis work? Specific reactions occur on the surface of the cell, and trigger the intake of specific proteins
