Cell Differentiation

What is the term that assures us that the division of one cell produces two identical cells? Mitosis
During mitosis cells start to specialize. Cells may switch on WHAT that produce Red Blood Cells or produce bone cells? Enzymes
Poorly differentiated cells means tissue cells have failed to do what? Differentiate or specialize E.g. poorly differentiated cells of liver tumor do not resemble normal liver cells.
Failure of cells to differentiate is characteristic of what major disease? Cancer cells
This type of cell is relatively undifferentiated or unspecialized. It's only function is the production of additional unspecialized cells. Stem cells
Rate of stem cell division varies with tissue type. Give two examples. Bone marrow and skin are capable of dividing more than once a day. Stem cells in adult cartilage may remain inactive for years.
