Cell Components 2
6th Grade Cell Anatomy
| Cell Component | How to Recognize |
|---|---|
| Cytoplasm | Arrow is pointing at "nothing" inside the cell |
| Nucleus | Usually the largest structure |
| Nucleolus | Is the "core" inside the nucleus |
| Ribosomes | Small structures - look like dots |
| Rough ER | Stacks of membranes attached to the nucleus - rough |
| Smooth ER | Stacks of membranes attached to the nucleus without roughness |
| Golgi Aparatus | Similar to ER but NOT attached to the nucleus (Wifi symbol) |
| Mitochondria | Looks like a bean with a maze inside |
| Lysosome | Small to medium circle (larger than ribosomes and vesicles) |
| Vacuole | Plant cell: about the same size or larger than the nucleus |
| Vacuole | Animal cell: about the same size as a lysosome but irregularly-shaped |
| Chloroplast | Similar to mitochondria but has "stacks" inside |
| Chloroplast | This is only found in plant cells |
| Centrioles | Looks like twizzlers |
| Centrioles | Only in animal cells |
| Cytoskeleton or Microtubules | Long, think rods NOT in the nucleus |
