Radial symmetry An object or organism that has many lines of symmetry that all go through a central point.
bilateral symmetry An object or organinzm with just one line that divides the animal into halves that are mirror images.
adaptation A characteristic that helps an organism to survive or reproduce in its environment.
vertebrae a backbone
vertebrate An animal with a backbone
invertebrate An animal without a backbone
endoskeleton A skeleton located inside an animal; internal skeleton
exoskeleton A waxy, waterproof outer shell or outer skeleton that protects the animal and helps prevent evaporation of water.
ectotherm An animal whose body does not produce much internal heat. (cold-blooded)
endotherm An animal whose body regulates its own temperature by controlling the internal heat it produces. (warm blooded)
