| Absolute Age | The actual age (numeric) of rock or fossil |
| Intrusion | interruption of rock due to plate tectonic movement. |
| Fossil record | The set of all fossils together that can be used to tell the history of the earth. |
| Homologous structures | Similar structures that evolved from a common ancestor. |
| DNA evidence | Can show how related species are by how much they have in common. |
