Environmental relationships

TermDefinition
competition a relationship between organisms in which one is harmed when both are trying to use the same resource related to growth, reproduction, or survivability; occurs when there are limited resources
parasitism a parasite, lives on or inside another organism, the host, causing it some harm
commensalism a relationship between individuals of two species in which one species obtains food /benefits from the other without hurting or benefiting the other species
mutualism between two or more species where each species benefit from one another
predation one organism, the predator, kills and eats another organism, its prey.
symbiosis a close and long-term biological interaction between two different biological organisms
habitat place where an organism or a community of organisms live, including all living and nonliving factors or conditions of the surrounding environment
niche includes the environment that a given organism lives in, but it also includes the organism's "job" in that environment.
