Environmental relationships
| Term | Definition |

| competition | a relationship between organisms in which one is harmed when both are trying to use the same resource related to growth, reproduction, or survivability; occurs when there are limited resources |
| parasitism | a parasite, lives on or inside another organism, the host, causing it some harm |
| commensalism | a relationship between individuals of two species in which one species obtains food /benefits from the other without hurting or benefiting the other species |
| mutualism | between two or more species where each species benefit from one another |
| predation | one organism, the predator, kills and eats another organism, its prey. |
| symbiosis | a close and long-term biological interaction between two different biological organisms |
| habitat | place where an organism or a community of organisms live, including all living and nonliving factors or conditions of the surrounding environment |
| niche | includes the environment that a given organism lives in, but it also includes the organism's "job" in that environment. |
