Blood tissue that brings oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the body and removes wastes from the cells of the body
Circulatory System the system that transports blood and other fluids throughout the body
Heart the muscular organ of an animal that pumps blood throughout the body
Cardiovascular System the body system that delivers blood to different parts of a body; consists of the heart, blood, and blood vessels (related word: circulatory system)
Respiratory System the system of the body that brings oxygen into the body and releases carbon dioxide
Oxygen an element that makes up about 21% of Earth's atmosphere; a gas in Earth's atmosphere and in water that living organisms breathe
Carbon Dioxide a waste product made by cells of the body; a gas in the air made of carbon and oxygen atoms: Humans rid themselves of carbon dioxide waste by exhaling, or breathing out.
Glucose a carbohydrate; produced by photosynthesis; primary source of energy for some plant and animal cells
Muscle an organ of the muscular system: Muscles can be either voluntary, such as a biceps, or involuntary, such as heart muscle. (related word: muscular)
Ventricle bottom chamber in an animal's heart that pumps blood out to the body
Valve an object that can permit or block the flow of material through some region
Pulmonary Artery the large artery that brings blood from the heart to the lungs

Blood Vessels tubes in the body through which blood flows
Artery a blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart (related word: arterial)
Aorta the major artery responsible for transporting blood from the heart to other parts of the human body

Atrium Top chamber of the heart that pumps blood into ventricle chamber
Blood components It has four main components: plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
