What is the smallest unit of all living organisms? Cell
What is the function of a red blood cell? Transport oxygen and carbon dioxide around the body
What is the function of a white blood cell? Fight infections
What is the function of a skin cell? Cover and protect the body
What is the function of a nerve cell? Send signals (electrical impulses) around the body
What is the function of a skeletal muscle cell? Move the body (voluntary movement)
What is the function of a smooth muscle cell? Allow for involuntary movement in the body
What is the function of a fat cell? Store energy
What does epithelial tissue do? cover and protect the body
What does connective tissue do? build and support the body
What does muscle tissue do? cause voluntary and involuntary movement
What does nervous tissue do? send electrical signal through the body
What are tissues made from? Cells that have similar jobs (example - nerve cells join with nerve cells to make nerve tissue)
What are organs made from? Different tissues that work together
What are organ systems made from? Different organs that are working together
What is the level of organization from smallest to largest? cells - tissues - organs - organ systems - organisms
