Term | Definition |

Word Processing | A production, storage, and manipulation of text on a computer or word processor |
Office Button | Allows you to open, save, and print documents and preform other document output functions |
Quick Access Toolbar | A customizable toolbar that contains a set of commonly used commands, they are Save and Undo/Redo, which is located above the Ribbon |
Insertion Point | The location on the screen where the next character typed will be inserted |
Status Bar | A small area at the bottom of a window, which is used by some applications to display helpful information for the user |
View Buttons | The features that allow you to change how the folders and files are shown |
Zoom Slider | A slider that allows the user to zoom in or out without pressing any commands or keys |
Word Wrap | When a line of text automatically “wraps” to the next line of text when it gets to the end of a page or text field |
Select Text | Highlighting text or picking an object |
Toggling | Switching from one setting to another one |
Quick Styles | A style listed in the Microsoft Word styles list that can be accessed at anytime |
Crop | When part of an image is removed, which may involve cutting some of the image from the right,left, top, bottom or any combination of cutting the image |
Desktop Publishing | Duplicating pages can be done electronically instead of individually coping and printing text and graphics |
Drag & Drop | A common action performed within a graphical user interface, which involves moving the cursor over an object, selecting it, and moving it to a new location |
Clipboard | A section of RAM(Random Access Memory) where your computer stores copied data, which can be placed by using “Copy” command |
Formatting | The overall layout of a document or spreadsheet which is pre-established |
Find & Replace | The act of finding text and replacing the found text with an alternative text |
Gutter | A blank area or space that runs between text or pages of a document |
Handles | A username which can be used to identify you on various different platforms |
Ribbon | A feature that replaces the traditional file menu, which dynamically changes based on what the user is currently doing |
