| chromosome | Strand of DNA that has the hereditary information necessary for cell life. |

| punnet square | A chart the shows all the possible combos of alleles that can result from a genetic cross. |
| mutation | A sudden departure from the parent type in 1 or more heritable characteristics caused by a change in a gene or chromosome. |
| hybrid | The offspring of 2 animals or plants of different breeds, varieties, species, etc |
| probability | The likelihood that an event will occur. |
| dominant allele | An allele whose trait always shows up in the organism when the allele is present. |
| genes | Characteristic passed down through ancestors, parents, grandparents, etc. |
| recessive allele | An allele that is masked or hidden when a dominant allele is present. |
