Cell Structure

Compound/Light Microscope Uses Light
Electron Microscope Uses beam of electrons to see the cell ultrastructure
Ultrastructure Detail of a structure as seen using an electron microscope
Cell The smallest unit of matter that can carry on all the processes of life
Prokaryotic Cell No nucleus and no membrane bound organelles e.g. Bacteria
Eukaryotic Cell Has a nucleus and membrane bound organelles e.g. Plant and Animal cells
Cell Membrane Controls what enters and leaves the cell
Nucleus Contains the cells genetic information (DNA)
Cytoplasm Clear jelly-like fluid which fills the cell
Mitochondria Supplies energy to cell through respiration
Ribosomes Make protein
Chloroplast It's function is Photosynthesis
Cell Wall Supports and strengthens the cell
Vacuole Provides storage and contains cell sap
