What is epithelium? Forms a protective covering for the body and is the main tissue of the skins outer layer
What is transitional epithelium? capable of great expansion but returns to its original form
What are exocrine glands? carry secretions away from the glands and carried to another organ, to a body cavity, or to the body surface
What are endocrine glands? Secrete directly into the blood and are carried to other areas of the body
What are the four types of connective tissue 1. liquid 2. soft 3. fibrous 4. hard
What are the three main muscle tissues? 1. Skeletal - Voluntary 2. Cardiac - Involuntary 3. Smooth - Involuntary
What is a neuron? The basic unit of nervous tissue
What are the four membranes? 1. epithelial 2. Serous 3. Mucous 4. Connective tissue
