| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Radula- | A structure of tiny teeth used for scraping food particles off a surface and drawing them into the mouth. |
| Mantle- | A layer of tissue that lies between the shell and the body. |
| Buoyancy- | The nautilus regulates it's buoyancy by adding or removing water and gas from the chamber of it's shell. |
| Camouflage- | Since octopus's don't have hard shells for protection, they developed camouflage to blend in with their environment. |
| Chromatophores- | Helps the octopus achieve camouflage. They are organs of the skin that attract the same brightness of it's background. |
