length-tension relationship The max amount of strength of a muscle is directly related to the intial length of the fibers
stretch reflex bodies response to maintian constancy of muscle length
Isotonic contraction Tone of muscle remains the same while length changes
Concentric contraction Movements that shorten the muscle
Eccentric contraction Movements that lengthen the muscle
Isometric contraction contraction where muscle length stays the same but tome changes
syncytium Cardiac muscles contiunous electrically coupled mass of cells
Diads double structure of T-tubules found in cardiac muscles
Calmodulin Protein that calcium binds to in smooth muscle to cause a contraction
Peristalsis rhythmic movement found in smooth muscle that allows for food to move down the digrestive track
