Digestive System
| Term | Definition |

| saliva | the liquid inside our mouth, sometimes called "spit" |
| salivary glands | glands that produce saliva |
| tongue | the muscle that pushes food towards the back of our mouth |
| esophagus | the tube leading from the back of our mouth to our stomach |
| stomach | the organ where digestive juices and churnin break down large food particles into smaller pieces |
| pancreas | the organ that produces enzymes that help in digestion and also makes a substance that neutralizes stomach acid |
| chyme | what we call food when it leaves the stomach |
| liver | this organ makes bile |
| gallbladder | the "sack" that holds extra bile |
| small intestine | the organ that absorbs nutrients and puts them into the blood stream |
