Respiratory System
| Term | Definition |

| nostrils | two external openings of the nose |
| trachea | the thin tube leading from the back of the mouth towards the lungs; also known as the windpipe |
| bronchi | the two "tubes" leading from the trachea to the lungs |
| lungs | the main breathing organs in our body |
| alveoli | tiny air sacs in our lungs |
| cilia | tiny hair-like structures on cells in our nose that help prevent unwanted particles from entering our lungs |
| inhale | when we breathe in and take in oxygen |
| exhale | when we breath out and release carbon dioxide |
| diaphragm | the dome shaped muscle below the lungs that helps with respiration |
| Respiratory System | The system responsible for bringing oxygen into our body and getting rid of carbon dioxide and other wastes |
