Respiratory System

nostrils two external openings of the nose
trachea the thin tube leading from the back of the mouth towards the lungs; also known as the windpipe
bronchi the two "tubes" leading from the trachea to the lungs
lungs the main breathing organs in our body
alveoli tiny air sacs in our lungs
cilia tiny hair-like structures on cells in our nose that help prevent unwanted particles from entering our lungs
inhale when we breathe in and take in oxygen
exhale when we breath out and release carbon dioxide
diaphragm the dome shaped muscle below the lungs that helps with respiration
Respiratory System The system responsible for bringing oxygen into our body and getting rid of carbon dioxide and other wastes
