LT 2a: Levels of Body Organization

| tissue | a group of similar cells that perform a common function. |
| organ | a structure made up of a collection of tissues that carries out a specialized function. |
| organ system | a group of organs that work together to perform body functions. |
| unicellular organism | a single-celled organism.(prokaryotic) |
| multicellular organism | an organism with more than one cell(eukaryotic) |
| Cells | The smallest unit of life. An example of a single celled organism is an amoeba |
| Tissues | A bunch of these make organs in all organisms. An example is epithelium tissue making up the stomach of a lion. |
| Organs | A bunch of these make up all organ systems. An example is a lung in the respiratory system. |
| Organs | An example of this is my skin, which provides a protective layer for my body |
| Organ Systems | An example of this is a bear and its digestive system. The digestive system is responsible for breaking down food for energy. |
