| Genotype | the genetic constitution of an individual organism. |
| Phenotype | the set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment. |
| Codominance | a form of inheritance wherein the alleles of a gene pair in a heterozygote are fully expressed. |
| Incomplete Dominance | when a dominant allele, or form of a gene, does not completely mask the effects of a recessive allele, and the organism's resulting physical appearance shows a blending of both alleles. |
| Law of Independent Assortment | describes how different genes independently separate from one another when reproductive cells develop. |
| Law of Segregation | states that alleles segregate randomly into gametes: When gametes are formed, each allele of one parent segregates randomly into the gametes, such that half of the parent's gametes carry each allele. |
