|---|---|
| Solvent | Substance it is dissolved into. Example: Water |
| Solute | Substance that is dissolved. Example: Cool Aid |
| Exocytosis | Materials move OUT of the cell. |
| Endocytosis | Materials move INTO the cell. |
| Active Transport | The cell has to USE ENERGY to move materials across the cell membrane. |
| Facilitated Diffusion | Large molecules move through the cell membrane through the PROTEIN CHANNELS. |
| Diffusion | When molecules move from areas of HIGH concentration to areas of LOW concentration. |
| Osmosis | Movement of WATER (H2O) through the cell membrane. |
| Isotonic Solution | Solutions that are the SAME strength. |
| Hypertonic Solution | The solution is MORE concentrated. |
| Hypotonic Solution | The solution is LESS concentrated. |
